The Role
As a Senior Valve Design Engineer, you will lead the concept development and detailed design of a new range of valves, while also supporting the ongoing enhancement of existing product range.
You will work closely with the manufacturing team, providing technical guidance and support throughout the production and testing phases to ensure design integrity and performance.
This role is ideally suited to an experienced Valve Design Engineer with a strong background in valve design and applications, and a proven ability to deliver robust, high-quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities & Experience
This is a key design role within the Centre of Technical Excellence, and it is important for you to possess the following skills and experience:

- Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to use facts, logic, and data effectively
- In-depth knowledge of valve design, functionality, and operating mechanisms
- The ability to interpret contract specifications, design requirements, and technical documentation
- Knowledge and application of Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) regulations
- Experience working with relevant design standards (e.g., ASME, BS, ISO, API)
- The ability to specify appropriate materials based on process conditions, pressure/temperature ratings, and corrosion considerations
- A solid understanding of valve manufacturing processes such as machining, casting, assembly, and testing
- Strong experience in engineering calculations and preparation of design reports to support valve design, including stress analysis (stress, shear, torsion, bending, deflection, buckling, etc.)
- Experience in actuator sizing, ensuring reliable valve performance under all operating and fail-safe conditions
- Proven ability to produce and manage valve design documentation, including drawings, calculations, procedures, and risk assessments
- The ability to review and verify engineering work to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with standards
- The ability to manage multiple complex and critical engineering design projects simultaneously.
- Experience of transferring designs into manufacturing, including material specifications, drawings, limits and fits, and bills of materials (BOMs)
- Experience developing Installation, Operation, and Maintenance (IOM) manuals
- Provide technical support for valve testing, including commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance validation activities.
- CAD skills (preferably AutoCAD and SolidWorks)
- Knowledge of FEA and CFD analysis
