Over a Half a Century of Expertise

1966

Douglas Blackhall became an affiliate member of the Cryogenics Society of America, establishing expertise in handling cryogenic liquids such as hydrogen and helium.

1969

Pioneered the use of DuPont Kel-F (PCTFE) in cryogenic valves and developed early cryogenic globe and check valves for hydrogen and helium, enhancing expertise in material science.

1970

Became a supplier of helium valves for Petrocarbon Developments (Costain) in Poland, applying advanced valve technology to industrial gas projects.

1985

Launched extended bonnet valves for cold box applications, showcasing innovations in thermal management and hydrogen liquefaction systems.

1990

Supplied cryogenic valves to the European Space Agency’s Ariane space rocket programme, advancing space-grade hydrogen valve engineering.

2004

Provided valve solutions to Lockheed Martin’s Skylaunch, furthering expertise in aerospace and defence hydrogen applications.

2007

Acquired Shaw Valves, incorporating advanced bellows-sealed, zero-emission technologies into Blackhall’s cryogenic valve range.

Secured large bore hydrogen contracts in China, introducing vacuum-jacketed bellows-sealed valves for industrial-scale hydrogen applications.

2020

Launched high-pressure bellows-sealed control valves for Air Products in La Porte, Texas, advancing hydrogen distribution and storage solutions.
