Another Quality Valve Saved from the Scrap Heap!

27/05/2020

solidarity In spite of all the current uncertainty, Blackhall remain open and available to support our customers who require repairs of critical valves, be it for hospitals, water authorities or power generation

At 09:30 this morning, we received a valve for a full refurbishment. The Valve is a 2" Bronze Taylor fig 815 screw down stop valve. The valve top cover was found to be scrap, as all the internal threads were very badly worn and not safe to reuse. However, the main body of the valve was in good condition, so scrapping the whole thing would have been a waste of energy and resources on multiple levels.

The refurbishment involved machining and reprofiling the body seating faces and machining the valve head. Thanks to our stock of critical spares, a new, fully-machined top cover was available to complete the valve. Here lies the true benefit of sending valves back to the Original Equipment Manufacturer for service and repairs.

Once finished, the valve underwent full testing as per the original specification, before it was collected by the customer only three hours later!

Here at Blackhall, recycling and refurbishing are an important process which help to save natural resources by reducing our carbon footprint, not to mention saving the customer money! Every valve sent for refurbishment helps!
